In March 2013 the government announced that they would introduce a dedicated primary P.E. and Sports Premium that would go directly to primary school head teachers so that they could decide how best to use it to provide sporting activities for pupils.
The government has since announced that they would continue the P.E. funding in Primary Schools until 2025.
Schools can choose how they use the funding, for example to:
hire specialist P.E. teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers during P.E. lessons.
support and involve the least active children by running after-school sports clubs and holiday clubs.
provide resources and training courses in P.E. and sport for teachers.
run sports competitions or increase pupils’ participation in the School Games.
run sports activities with other schools.
Since September 2013, Ofsted inspections have reported on P.E. and sports provision and on how schools spend their additional funding.
Schools are accountable and are required to publish, on their websites, details of how they spend (or will spend) their P.E. and Sports Premium funding. They must also include detail about the impact this funding has on pupils’ P.E. and sports participation and attainment.
Below are the key documents outlining our PE policy, previous provision and future plans for PE and sport in the school.
